The Secret to Making $1000.00s More a Day By Being Environmentally Friendly!

by Bob Blagg

As HVAC contractors we owe it to the world and ourselves to do what we can to help protect our environment.

I have a way we can do that and make $1000.00s more each and every day.

Let me ask you two Simple questions.

1. Do your remove the refrigerant from old equipment?

2. Do you haul away the old equipment?

If you answered yes to both of these questions I will show you how to get into High-End homes and make $1000s more each day.

But 1st let me tell you a story about how by asking myself these two questions I landed a job that every other company in my area had been trying to get for years.

I was working as a service tech for a HVAC company in Racine, Wisconsin, and we received a no cooling call from the home of very prominent and very rich women.

When I got there I met their maintenance man, who said that the a/c was out in half of the home and that the last company to service the equipment had been putting in refrigerant at least twice a season for a number of years in order to keep it running. Once I saw the equipment I couldn't understand why no one had ever replaced it. The units were at least 30 years old and couldn't have had a seer rating any higher then 6.

The maintenance man said numerous companies had tried to convince the owner of the home to replace the equipment but failed. So I asked the maintenance man if money was a concern to the women who owned the home. I knew this was a crazy question since she was a multi millionaire. As I had thought he would the maintenance guy said no, it wasn't money. But he couldn't tell me what it was because he said at least a dozen different salesmen had tried to convince the owner of the home to put in new equipment.

So I asked the maintenance man to tell me everything he could about the women and her family. It turned out that the women and her family owned a company that was known through out the world for being very environmentally friendly.

So I recharged the units as needed with the understanding that the owner of the home would allow a salesman from my company to come back and give her a quote on new equipment.

So I went back to the office and sat down with the salesman who was going to make the call on the homeowner. I explained to him exactly how to get the sale. Just by using the two simple questions from above.

Here is what I said to him. When you are talking to the owner of the home let her know:

1. We will reclaim and recycle refrigerant in order to protect the environment and conserve our natural resources.

2. We will recycle all the old equipment so that it does not just fill up our landfills but it will also help conserve our natural resources.

3. That by replacing the old 6 Seer equipment with new higher Seer equipment and the old 50 - 60% efficient furnaces with 90+ furnaces she will be conserving both our electrical and natural gas resources.

Needless to say that after the salesman told her all this we got the job of replacing two complete systems as well as new air cleaners and humidifiers and we even sold her new higher efficiency water heaters. All at a price that was over $5000.00 more then anyone else had ever quoted by just doing things every good contactor should be already doing.

But that wasn't the end of it. She liked the fact that we were environmentally friendly that she recommended us to all her friends, which lead to numerous other jobs with as good if not even better mark ups.

So as you can see that by being environmentally friendly like most good contractors already are and letting people know through all of your advertising you can greatly improve your bottom line.

So please do your part to protect our environment. As you can see it is well worth it in many ways.
